Our fully equipped classroom and engine review ensures you get an clear understanding of outboard engines.
Whether you have a little experience of outboard engines or no knowledge of engines at all, our course gives you a complete overview of the operation and maintenance of a typical marine outboard. Course knowledge is passed on from our expert team, combined with hands-on training and ‘tricks of the trade’ to give you the understanding and confidence to maintain your own engine at your berth or mooring, or even how to try and fix your engine if something goes wrong whilst out on the water. The course is designed for owners of petrol powered two and four stroke outboard engines found on motor cruisers, fishing boats, workboats or sailing yachts that enjoy many of our local harbours or that head further out to sea.

What the course includes:
The course is taught primarily in the classroom at Sparkes Marina, and we aim to make the course practical, relevant, cost effective and fun. With a maximum of six people on the course, our clients have the advantage of maximum hands-on time learning in the classroom.
Using our rig mounted outboard engine, you will be encouraged and trained to take a very active practical role. All necessary tools are supplied to enable you to get involved in stripping and changing various outboard engine parts, all because we believe that most people learn best by doing.
